A character analysis of Jamal from the film “Slumdog Millionaire”

Jamal
Categorizing Jamal is not that easy as it seems. You might say that he is good all the way through, and that is on the whole what it looks like. Then I say, what about him losing his temper about Latika and knocking Salim down? There are a couple of scenes in the film where Jamal lose his temper, but is that enough to place him as a round character, I do not think so. Even though life sometimes brings out the worst of him, he is deep down good and has the best intentions. In his childhood, he and Salim stole shoes and belongings from the visitors of Taj Mahal. This is a despicable act itself, but Salim and Jamal are in a tight situation and simply have to steal to stay alive. This does not make him a bad person, Jamal is a person who cares about the people around him, and he sacrifices a lot for his dear ones.
